Brandermill Rotarians Brighten
the Beginning of
School
The Brandermill Rotary, in
participation with the YMCA, is going to help less
fortunate area children begin school with supplies
and new clothing.
Bright Beginnings, conceived by the Y, was established
to ease the worries of youngsters who otherwise
might be distracted from their work with concerns
over not having suitable shoes or the requisite
supplies as school gets underway. Last August,
over fifty people associated with the Brandermill
Rotary Club went shopping at Target in Commonwealth
Centre.
On August 18 at 5:30 p.m., Rotarians and youngsters
will again meet at the Brandermill Target to shop
for school-year necessities. The outing, an extremely
rewarding experience for the participants, is designed
to allow the recipient child to actually choose
their own purchases. The shopping spree will generally
yield for each child:
- two new outfits
- new underwear and socks
- a pair of new shoes
- a sweater or jacket
- a backpack and other supplies
pens, pencils, paper, and notebooks
